Beginner's Night, Thursday 9 February 2012 from 18h00

A Beginner's Night will be held on 9 February 2012 from 18H00, so if you've always wondered, this is a good opportunity to come investigate the awesomeness that is Aikido!

Beginner's Night

 

Orientation Week 6 - 10 February 2012:

Our stall will be situated on the corner of the square surrounding the tree in-between the Mathematics building and the Otto Beit building closest to the Jammie Hall. We will hand out pamphlets and sign up students who want to join.

We are also doing an Aikido demonstration in Hall 3 on Tuesday, 7 February 2012 from 12h00 - 12h30.

Come look us up if you're in the area!  

 

Weekend Aikido Seminar with Gilbert Maillot Sensei (5th Dan):

Some exciting news at the start of 2012!

Gilbert Maillot Sensei (5th Dan) from France will be holding a weekend Aikido seminar at the UCT Aikido club on the first weekend of February!

Sensei Gilbert Maillot (5th Dan) from France is visiting South Africa once again and will be holding a seminar at the UCT Aikido dojo. You are warmly invited to join us for an excellet weekend of Aikido!

Friday evening will be a free class and demonstration so please also invite anyone who is new to Aikido and is interested to learn more and maybe join us on the mat in 2012.

Saturday:
Keiko 2 & 3: 09h00 - 12h00 
Keiko 4 & 5: 14h00 - 17h00

Aikido on the Beach:

2011 is winding down and it has been a gift to share this year of Aikido and of connecting with all of you. We would like to celebrate and invite you to an afternoon of training and of enjoying Aikido, life and each other's company together.

Please join us for Aikdo on the Beach tomorrow Friday, 16 December 2011.

Where: Clifton 2nd Beach

When: 17h00 until the sun has dipped into the sea.

Please bring along your bokken and jo if you have them.

We will have a class and then a picnic, so please bring drinks and some food to share.

Please share and invite others from your dojo to join us.

Special Class with Susan Newton (4th Dan):

Susan Newton (4th Dan) from the United States has kindly agreed to share with us and will teach a class on Tuesday, 29 November at the UCT Aikido Club (19h00 - 21h00)!

Susan began her study of Aikido with Robert Frager Sensei (7th Dan) at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Palo Alto, California in 1992, as part of her doctoral program in psychology. Following graduation and licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in California, she traveled to Tokyo to deepen her practice in its home culture. While serving the international community as a psychotherapist, she had the great good fortune to study with Kato Sensei (8th Dan) for 10 years.

Now living in Portland, Oregon, Susan works as a psychologist and consultant in private practice, a free-lance editor, as well as instructing her own practice group in Aikido. Also in the Diploma Program of the Process Work Institute, Susan takes care of the Lao Tse Press.

This is an awesome opportunity so make sure you grab it :-)

If some of you could come a bit earlier to make sure the mats are down etc. that will be much appreciated!

 

Last Monthly Seminar:

Join us this Saturday, 12 November for our final monthly seminar. This time it will take place at the Fish Hoek dojo.

Venue:      Fish Hoek dojo, between 4th & 5th Avenue (off Kommetjie Rd, Fish Hoek)

Beginner's Night and six-week Beginner's Course starting soon:

The UCT Aikido Club and Hoerikwaggo Aikido Centre are hosting a six-week Aikido Beginner's Course.

Please join us for the Beginner’s Night and find out more about this unique martial art - Aikido!


The evening is dedicated to Newcomers and will begin with an introductory training session followed by a get-together where you can meet the teachers and other students over snacks and some Aikido video clips.

Beginner's Night will be held on Thursday, 04 August, 18h00.
The six-week
Beginner's Course starts on Tuesday, 09 August, 19h30.
